The PlayStation vs. Xbox console war, which kicked off in 2001 with the release of [Halo: Combat Evolved (2001)] alongside the original Xbox... Effectively ended with the 2026 release of [Halo: Campaign Evolved (2026)] on PlayStation. Major retailer GameStop officially declared the console war over following this news, and even GameSpot posted an announcement saying the war was finished because the whole situation was just that absurd lol.
