First, for those who don't know what 'Childcare Time' is:
It’s fine if you're in a back-office role doing your own individual paperwork, because taking messages or answering phones isn't a huge deal—though it does get annoying when it piles up. The real problem is when someone at a service counter or front-line desk uses it. Someone else has to cover that person's entire workload for 2 hours for free. It means even if the place is swamped, they just go 'It's 4 PM, peace out ✌️ (using my 2-hour childcare leave)' and bounce. The intent is good, but it feels like the higher-ups are just clout-chasing (costs them zero dollars, makes for great 'family-friendly' PR) while totally ruining the vibe among the actual staff. I've even heard stories where they tried grouping all the 'childcare time' users together so they could coordinate among themselves, and it apparently turned into a total shitshow.
"Users are venting about the 'childcare time' policy, complaining that the government and companies take all the credit for being 'pro-parenting' while the actual coworkers are forced to pick up the slack for free, leading to office drama and resentment."
