Post-ride report from yesterday. Just finished editing past 1 AM, so I'm posting it now.
1. Start of coastal road 2. Seonjin Port & Fortress 3. Hill with sea view 4. Daepo Port 5. Sunrise spot & resort 6. Logging road entrance 7. Gaksan gliding site & summit 8. Logging road exit 9. Silan coastal road. As you can see on the map, the coastal road is quite long.
This is the vibe. Went up the breakwater at Seonjin Port too.
Sacheon Bridge was visible in the distance, but now it's gone. Taking the back path into Seonjin Fortress.
It's actually a famous cherry blossom spot. Exiting the fortress and back on the road.
Looks like you can cross when the tide is out. Just pulling into any random spot. There was a place where the road led straight into the sea,
A place like this. Turning back out.
Heading up an unpaved side path along that road.
Sacheon Bridge is clearly visible now. Heading further to find a breakwater.
The bridge is getting closer bit by bit. Passing under the bridge to Daepo Port, a local fishing spot near my place.
The wind and waves are no joke. Further down, traffic is backed up because a car is doing a U-turn on a two-lane road. Wondering what's up,
Seawater is flooding the road. Passing through won't be a huge deal, but it might get annoying, so I hesitated for a sec,
Passed. And yep, it's annoying. Had to wipe my glasses, helmet visor, and the Insta360. I've seen crowds here at dawn on New Year's Day for the sunrise. Going a bit further down,
Arte Resort hill path. Time to hit the nearby logging roads. Heading back to the entrance, let's go.
Taking the hairpin turn toward the helipad/Gaksan gliding site. Gliding site seems like a nice spot.
On the opposite side,
You can see the Sacheon neighborhoods and the bridge. Leaving the gliding site for the summit observatory. The path gets a bit rough from here. From the observatory,
Samcheonpo downtown, surrounding islands, and the sea.
Can also see Samcheonpo Bridge. It's a color photo, but the dust and light make it look like black and white. Asked a mountain ranger at the observatory if I could head down. They said since I came up this way, I can go down the other way.
True that I could go down, but it was a bit of a struggle. Logging road is finally ending. Fin-ish. If this looks familiar to anyone, you're right. It connects back to the sunrise spot from earlier. Middle of the mountain road and,
Toured the Silan coastal road. I visit often, but it feels fresh on a bike. Safe return complete. Got a few more photos that look like black and white.
