Hideyoshi's half-brother Hidenaga was with him through thick and thin since they were kids.

He followed Hideyoshi ever since Hideyoshi was first commissioned as a low-level officer.

He stuck by his 'noob' brother who got looked down on for being a commoner, doing all the grunt work for him.

They survived life-threatening situations several times while roaming the battlefields together.

He was always there whenever things got tough.

So Hideyoshi took really good care of him.

One day, a man came to Hideyoshi (who had become the Kanpaku), claiming to be his half-brother. He even brought relatives to prove it and asked to be taken in so he could serve Hideyoshi.

Hideyoshi's first reaction was that anyone could make up a story like that. But after talking to his mother, he realized the man really was his brother.

Thinking back on his own childhood, he decided to meet his brotherโa kid who had suffered just like he did. When they met, he comforted him saying, 'So you're my brother. You've been through a lot,' and the brother was so moved he burst into tears.

But immediately after that, Hideyoshi flipped. He claimed the man wasn't his brother and yelled, 'How dare you try to fake having "noble" blood?' He then had his half-brother executed and killed every single relative the man had brought with him.
"Users discuss the historical plausibility of the scene, mostly agreeing that Hideyoshi had to kill off potential 'relatives' to protect his fake 'noble' branding and prevent a swarm of gold-diggers."
