It's okay even if you can't draw at all. First, prepare a piece of paper. A scrap of drawing paper, a memo pad, a receipt, the back of a photo—even a piece of toilet paper doesn't matter. And a pencil. 4B, 2H, charcoal, colored pencil, whatever. There, you've gathered all the materials to draw manga. These two are all you need. Don't feel like you need to buy professional tools to do it 'properly.' These two are truly enough. What else is this easy and cheap to find around you? Now, let's unfold the paper. Try writing what you desire right now. It doesn't have to be in full sentences. Just write down the urges or frustrations you feel in your heart. For example,

- I want to be a space rocket pilot. - I want to rest. - I want to date Jodie Foster. - I want to punch that super annoying teacher. - I want to eat a delicious beefsteak. - Can't my salary just double? - Why is it so hard to own a house? - I wish the Hanshin Tigers were a bit stronger. If you've written your wishes like this, now try drawing a little sketch next to it, any part of that wish will do. Don't chicken out saying you can't draw. Any part of that sentence is fine. Even if you can't draw, you can at least draw a circle or a square. Let's actually try drawing it. If that teacher you hate has a long face like a horse, draw a looooong oval; if they're fat, draw it round. Then add a few prominent features like glasses or a beard.

Now, as you work through this, you might think, 'Hey, this is just a doodle.' Exactly, it's a doodle. Manga starts from doodles. If 'manga' only refers to the weekly magazines lined up in bookstores, that's 'professional manga,' not all manga. For example, 'Henohenomoheji' (drawing a face using Japanese characters) is manga in its own way. Bathroom graffiti is also great manga. Doodling is fun. You don't have to show it to anyone, you can draw what you want, and no matter how bad you are, you can draw without worry. This is the essence of manga. And this is the important characteristic of manga that sets it apart from other types of art. By making those doodles just now, you've taken a wonderful first step into drawing manga.

He says this level of drawing skill is enough.

In case people go 'Why are you only talking about Japanese manga?', I brought some stuff from Leva too. Scenes from Leva Toon Apocalypse Comic on Lezhin. Both say you can just draw roughly.
"Users agree that while art helps, the 'sauce' (storytelling and engagement) is what really matters, citing legendary 'bad' artists like ONE and early Tower of God as proof."
