An anime that any old-timer who grew up watching Tooniverse would know: *His and Her Circumstances*. The original manga actually finished, but the anime was cut short due to budget issues... Here's the original ending.
The male lead has trauma from being abused by his parents as a child, so he couldn't truly open up to his girlfriend.
Then he eventually ends up forcing himself on her in the library...
Basically, it's a pregnancy ending... Right after graduating high school, they get married. The male lead gives up on college to make money and becomes a cop, while the female lead has two daughters and then goes to med school to become a doctor. Then, the daughter she had at 20 ends up catching feelings for the male lead's best friend... A pretty shocking ending.
