
*Before I start, I admit my own ignorance and that I made a mistake.
I had a wedding to attend in Seoul from Busan, and then a trip straight down to Jeonbuk right after, so I decided to take the EV. I have a baby, so I thought using public transport would be a nuisance to people around us. At departure, my EV3 Long Range showed a 657km range at 100% charge, so I made the worst misjudgment of my life thinking I could reach the wedding hall without charging, plug into a slow charger there, then head to Jeonbuk and slow charge again while sleeping.

Winter + Highway + Speeding because I was in a rush = The battery was literally melting away. I arrived at the wedding hall in Seoul with 5% battery and a 37km range. I plugged into a 7kW slow charger, ate, said hi to friends, and came backโI don't remember the percentage, but the range was only 80km. On the way to Jeonbuk, I hit Maesong Service Area for a 200kW fast charger, but maybe the cold slowed it down? I spent about an hour eating and walking around with the baby, but the battery only hit maybe 30%? 199km range. I barely made it to my destination after one more short charge at Gunsan Service Area. On the way down, I saw two chargers that were 'available' on Naver Maps but were actually broken. Some might say 'Why didn't you just charge enough at the service area?', but with a crying baby, it's not that simple. You have to soothe them, then if they fall asleep, you have to rush them to the car seat and leave immediately. If I were single, the charging stress would've been way less. Conclusion: If you live in the sticks and drive long distances, Diesel is still the GOAT. Hybrids seem okay too. EVs are strictly for city driving and short commutes.
