It's not just Baek Jong-won getting hate for not managing his franchises. It's not just Jung Hee-won being called a 'show doctor.' Just look at the plating for Mosu's 100k-won lunch posted on DC. I know they're currently unstarred since they just reopened, but is this really the plating of a former 3-star spot? Honestly, forget Michelin stars—even a local bistro wouldn't put out food like that. It’s not that Ahn Sung-jae isn't talented. Even with CJ's massive sponsorship and ingredients back then, you don't get 3 stars without serious skills. I acknowledge his talent. But no matter how cracked a chef is, they only have one body and 24 hours a day. Doing TV, YouTube, and excelling at your day job is impossible regardless of skill. This is why I loathe these 'experts'—chefs, doctors, whoever—who crawl onto TV. They hang around broadcasting because they can't cut it in their real field. I get that fine dining isn't profitable and he had to close when the CJ sponsorship ended. I get that even a 3-star chef needs TV money. Then he should have just leaned into being a celebrity and YouTuber since he blew up on 'Culinary Class Wars.' Why reopen a restaurant he can't even manage properly just to coast on his fame? Reviews say the table spacing is narrower than before to cram more people in, making it so noisy you can't even talk. Dinner is run in two shifts so people feel like they're being kicked out. Others say the ingredients are lagging behind CJ-backed spots like 'San' (which is expected since he's solo now). He should either focus on his craft quietly like Mingles or just go full-time TV. I'm tired of seeing plating that looks like a construction site canteen.
"OP is dragging Chef Ahn Sung-jae for allegedly choosing fame over food quality, calling the new plating 'cafeteria-tier,' while commenters are split between trashing the 'sucker' culture and pointing out that OP got the price totally wrong."
