Just as the DRAM and GPU price cycles are starting to kick off, it looks like the next wave of hikes will hit basic PC components like Power Supplies (PSU) and CPU coolers. According to VideoCardz, a major Chinese manufacturer—Guangzhou Xinhongzheng Electronic Technology Co., Ltd—notified its clients that PSU prices could rise by about 6-10%, and CPU coolers by 6-8%.
These products rely heavily on raw materials like copper, silver, and tin, which are essential for manufacturing. Because of this, even manufacturers maintaining standard contract terms are expected to see at least a 6% increase in production costs.
Guangzhou Xinhongzheng advised clients looking to secure bulk inventory to pull the trigger in January before the February promotion period ends. According to the notice, about 90% of products are currently sold at supplier-discounted rates, meaning PSUs and coolers will likely revert to MSRP soon. On top of that, consumer prices might see even higher profit margins tacked on.
If manufacturing has been relying on discounted prices for a long time, there's a chance this hike won't stop at just 6-10% but could blow up even further. If these adjustments go through, we could see significant price jumps in the coming weeks.
