“Japan: The oldest country in the world”
The logic is that Japan is the only country where a single dynasty has continued unbroken since ancient times.
But obviously, since “Country = Dynasty” isn't a thing, it’s just incredibly narrow-minded and arbitrary BS logic.
Korea, China, and Japan all experienced the collapse of their ruling structures and loss of sovereignty in modern history, so none of them are without historical gaps.
In fact, if we go by current regimes, it's Korea (1948), China (1949), and then Japan (1952). Japan is technically the youngest.
"Users are dunking on the 'unbroken bloodline' myth by pointing out Japan's history of figurehead emperors and the US occupation under 'Shogun' MacArthur."
